Dear Happiness, Are We Still Friends?

happy

Everyone’s concept of what it means to be happy is different. You may never have thought about it this way but it may very well be your concept of happiness that is making you unhappy. What do I mean? If your concept of happy is based on materialistic things that have no life energy, no ability to make its own decision, then my dear, you have a problem. Oh, and if your happiness is based on people who do have the life energy to make choices then rather worse. Your happiness is something that you and you alone are responsible for.

Make a decision within yourself that happiness is your God Given Right. Once you make that decision it is now time for you to find out what it truly means to be happy.

Life has its challenges. Challenges that though many times may seem simple on the surface, often introduces complexities to our own personal journey. We will not always “feel happy” when we are going through our individual struggles. However, here is what I charge you to do. Make a decision within yourself that happiness is your God Given Right. Once you make that decision it is now time for you to find out what it truly means to be happy. It will vary but one thing I can tell you is that happiness should never be based on materialistic things. Your house can burn down, your financial situation can change, your family dynamics can also change which may mean you are unable to treat yourselves to do things you were able to before. If you’ve been around for a while you know that anything is possible in life. You oftentimes cannot control life events because of varying factors that play a role in that life-altering event. However, you can control your mindset and how you interprets things. Though it can be difficult it is possible.

I love the fact that I am alive even though everything is not going my way because I know one day I will not be alive anymore… Pause and think about that for a minute.

Practice reflecting. Reflect on the very gift of life, despite your situation. I love the fact that I am alive even though everything is not going my way because I know one day I will not be alive anymore… Pause and think about that for a minute. For my life, alive is my happiness. Being alive is my happiness. I love living. It is amazing that in 1982, I wasn’t alive but in 1983 a little Claytine Nisbett came into the world. When my mommy and daddy did their deed there was a one in a million chance that I would be the one to make it to the finish line and guess what?!! I won that race and so did you.

When I see other women around me hurting it touches me in a special way because I know that as women we sometimes feel pain differently. Depending on the situation, our emotions take us to special places of hurt.

When I see other women around me hurting it touches me in a special way because I know that as women we sometimes feel pain differently. Depending on the situation, our emotions take us to special places of hurt. We go through stages where we feel happiness has literally forgotten about us. Happiness forgot we won that race and we were the one to make it to the finish line and be birthed into this world. “I’m here, I’m here'” you scream, with your voice echoing back to you from the walls of that empty barren place in your life. The thing is happiness never changes its position. Happiness is unchangeable. We have to position ourselves to receive it. Happiness will always be willing to do what it is designed to do, bring joy. Simply being alive is happiness to me. Would you allow that to be happiness to you? My sister, my brother, happiness has not forgotten you. “I am still your friend,” it calls to you. Answer the call.

Happiness will always be willing to do what it is designed to do, bring joy….. happiness has not forgotten you.
